VeneziaCamp 2010, scaldate i motori, stiamo arrivando

A proposito di “Camp”…

Il Financial Times Week End Magazine della scorsa settimana ha dedicato la storia di copertina agli imprenditori high-tech e ai venture capital europei. Uno degli articoli era dedicato ad un intervista a Saul Klein partner di Index Ventures (per intenderci il fondo VC che ha investito su Skype) il quale fa cenno ad un interessante programma pan-europeo chiamato Seedcamp, che egli ha lanciato pochi anni fa insieme ad un gruppo di business agels, venture capitalist ed imprenditori seriali provenienti da varie parti d’Europa.

Dal sito http://www.seedcamp.com si apprende che:

“Seedcamp is a programme created to jumpstart the entrepreneurial community in Europe by connecting next generation developers and entrepreneurs with over 400 mentors from a top-tier network of company builders; including seed investors, serial entrepreneurs, product experts, HR and PR specialists, marketers, lawyers, recruiters, journalists and venture capitalists.
Seedcamp acts as a micro seed fund to invest in startup companies, mainly through our flagship event Seedcamp Week which takes place in September every year. To make sure we are honing in on all the new startup talent, we also run Mini Seedcamp programmes throughout several startup hubs around Europe from January-June. Seedcamp’s standard investment is €30-50k. Following Seedcamp Week, the companies who receive investment stay in London for 3 months to grow and develop their company, building key and lasting business relationships along the way to help them sustain a viable business”.

Per quanto riguarda i Mini-Seedcamps (che è ciò che qui ci interessa) sempre dal sito emerge che:

“Mini-Seedcamps are held in addition to our main Seedcamp Week event, providing an opportunity for local web-tech startups to connect with advisors and fellow entrepreneurs within your region and beyond. They are held between January and June in several locations across EMEA. Past events have seen us in Berlin, London, Paris and the Ukraine to name but a few. Any European startup from any region can choose to apply to any Mini Seedcamp that suits.

Our goal is always to help as many great startups as we can to have that initial capital to kick-start their business and to make the most relevant relationships possible. As such, Seedcamp may also invest through the Mini Seedcamps or the teams may be invited to apply for Seedcamp Week in September held in London, whereby 20 teams are selected from around the EMEA to attend and compete for seed funding and garner world-class connections for startups”.

Nell’edizione 2010 i Mini-Seedcamps si sono tenuti o si terranno l’11 Febbraio a Zagabria, il 2 Marzo a Praga, il 23 Marzo a Barcellona, il 15 Aprile a Parigi, il 6 Maggio a Tel Aviv, il 27 Maggio a Copenaghen, il 16 Giugno a Berlino ed il 20 Luglio a Londra.

Come avrà notato manca un appuntamento in Italia! e da quel che ho letto alcune start up italiane hanno partecipato al Mini-seedcamp di altre città europee (Barcellona e Parigi).

Stavo, quindi, pensando che potrebbe essere il PST Vega ad organizzare a Venezia (ormai l’anno prossimo) il Mini-Seedcamp italiano!
